Some of these say we do not know. That is on purpose. Most of what is written about mobile mechanic pricing was written by companies selling something to mechanics, and we would rather tell you where the solid ground stops.

What does a verified listing mean on this site?
It means the business owner confirmed their own contact details with us. Name, phone, service area, email. It is not a rating, a background check, or a quality endorsement. Verified means the owner confirmed his own contact details, not that we vouch for his work.
Does the badge mean the mechanic is good?
No. It means we know their contact information is current because they told us so. Judging whether a mechanic is good is still your job, and we tell you how to do it in our legitimacy guide.
Why are some listings marked unclaimed?
Because we built them from public business records and have never spoken to that business. Details may be wrong or out of date. Call and confirm before you rely on anything in an unclaimed listing.
How do I get my listing removed?
Email us from an address tied to the business and we will take it down. We do not charge to remove a listing and we do not ask why.
Do you take a cut of the repair?
No. You call the mechanic, you pay the mechanic. We are not in the transaction and we do not see what you paid.
How much does a mobile mechanic cost in DFW?

Do mobile mechanics charge just to come out?
Most charge a diagnostic fee for the visit and the diagnosis, and many add a trip fee past a set radius. Ask for both numbers on the phone, and ask whether the diagnostic fee comes off the bill if you approve the repair.
Is a mobile mechanic cheaper than a shop?
The hourly labor rates are usually in the same range. The real savings are the tow you do not pay for and the day off work you do not take.
Why are two quotes for the same repair hundreds apart?
Usually they are not quoting the same job. Part quality, warranty length, distance, and whether the diagnostic fee is included explain most gaps. Ask both for the part brand and the warranty in months or miles and the difference normally explains itself.
How do I check if a mobile mechanic is legitimate?
Ask for the exact registered business name, the hourly labor rate, the diagnostic fee, and proof of garage keepers or liability insurance. Then look the business name up free in the Texas Comptroller Taxable Entity Search. Under ten minutes, and it catches most problems.
Do mobile mechanics need a license in Texas?
There is no single general mechanic license to ask for. One thing is federally required: anyone servicing motor vehicle air conditioning for money must hold EPA Section 609 certification under 40 CFR 82.161. If somebody says they are state licensed, ask which license and from which agency, then check with that agency yourself.
Is it safe to pay in cash?
Cash is fine. Cash with no itemized receipt is not, because you have just given up your warranty and any ability to dispute the work. The receipt should list the business name, the vehicle and mileage, parts individually with prices, labor separately, and the warranty terms.
My car will not start and just clicks. Can a mobile mechanic help?
That is one of the best cases for mobile. A rapid click when you turn the key usually points at the battery or charging system, and a slow single heavy click often points at the starter. All of it is diagnosed and repaired in a driveway, and you skip the tow. Do not let anybody quote a firm price for it over the phone before testing.
Can they inspect a used car at the seller's house?
Yes. That is what a mobile pre-purchase inspection is for, and the seller does not have to drive anywhere.
